The polar bear is Canada’s "lord of the ice." This enormous bear has developed several features and habits that help it survive in Canada’s cold northern regions.
The polar bear’s pure white coat is its most noticeable feature. This helps it blend with its surroundings so it can surprise its prey. Unlike other bears, the polar bear’s hairs are hollow. This helps it stay afloat while swimming and insulates it from the icy water.
