The second reason the victory at Vimy Ridge was a great Canadian achievement was the size of the capture. The Canadian Corps captured more land, guns, and prisoners than the British during any of their earlier attempts. By the end of the four-day attack, Canada had advanced 4.8 km into enemy territory, taken 124 machine guns, and captured 4,000 German prisoners. Unfortunately, the attack took a heavy toll on Canada.
