The first McIntosh apple was grown by John McIntosh in Dundas County, Ontario in 1811. Soon, other farmers wanted to grow the crunchy red apple, but they had a problem. Apple seeds from a McIntosh apple did not grow into a McIntosh apple tree. Only the original tree could grow a McIntosh apple. Eventually, McIntosh’s son Allan learned how to grow McIntosh apples on other farms. Now the McIntosh is Canada’s most widely grown apple. Next
