This tree produced the first McIntosh apple. All other McIntosh apples are related to it. McIntosh’s son, Allan, learned to reproduce these tasty apples by bud grafting. In this method, a budding branch from one tree is grafted onto a new tree. The new tree then produces the same type of apples as the original.
