Spawning
Where?
-shallow stream beds
Activities:
-reproduce
-become a food source

At the spawning grounds, the female salmon build nests in shallow stream beds. Then the males and females hover over each nest while releasing their sperm and eggs. They continue reproducing until their body reserves are gone. Most species then die, becoming food for other wildlife. The life cycle of the Pacific salmon begins anew when the alevin emerge from their gravel nests. Next Back
